Plait consists of earth pigment drawings on shaped wood panels, graphite drawings on paper, shelves and tempered glass. These elements are to be adapted to a given space, with pieces resting on the floor and shelves mounted at various heights. Their arrangments are flexible, with discrete groupings, single drawings, and improvised accumulations sharing space. The pieces are seen separately here but are intended to be displayed in conjunction. The series is ongoing.

Plait explores a concern with the merging of horizontal and vertical time. This work asks questions of the artifact and poses itself as already hidden and buried. In the past few years I have wondered how to give voice to my environmental pessimism, and what might be a proper response to our position. The word plait refers to braids of buried and revealed traces. It is chosen to rhyme with plight. These drawings are an act of mourning, and a reading into the landscape.
