A
lovely and involving little piece by the incomparable Seth Nehil. It sounds
like some ceramic objects (perhaps like the ones pictured on the cover?)
being lightly tapped for 20 minutes and layered over itself, at once eventless
and
absorbing. It's not a drone, rather it's active on a small scale, in its
own understated way. I won't try anymore to guess at how the sounds were
produced
(that's a terrible way to listen, isn't it?), I'll just tell you how much
I enjoy the piece. I enjoy it quite a bit.

One 20-minute electroacoustic piece on 3" CD, begins with an uncanny clattering
sensation like soda bottles rolling around inside one's ear canals (I *have*
to listen to mini-CDs via portable player w/earbuds which surely accentuates
said effect) ... always spiraling in various directions, growing denser, coarser
and increasingly electric until abrasive squeals rumble in upper registers.
This transmutation further evolves into something lighter and thinner though
still
whistling like squad of an angry teakettles whose emissions are refracted through
wavering atmospheres, fading away gradually until only the lightest of still-clattering
tinkles remain. Interesting sonic experimentations in a small dosage... I guess
I'd have to call it Nehil-istic!
